Funerals Held in Lebanon for Three Journalists Killed in Israeli Airstrike

Mourners Bury Three Journalists Killed in Israeli Airstrike South of Beirut
Hundreds of mourners gathered on Sunday in Choueifat, south of Beirut, to attend the funerals of three Lebanese journalists killed in an Israeli airstrike the previous day.
The victims were:
- Ali Shoeib, a correspondent for Hezbollah’s al-Manar TV
- Fatima Ftouni, a reporter for pan-Arab al-Mayadeen TV
- Mohammed Ftouni, Fatima’s brother and a cameraman for al-Mayadeen
The three were killed while covering the Israel-Hezbollah war in southern Lebanon when their car was struck by an Israeli airstrike on Saturday.
Israel’s Justification vs Lebanese Condemnation
Israel’s military stated that it had targeted Ali Shoeib, accusing him of being a Hezbollah intelligence operative. No evidence was provided to support the claim. Lebanese officials strongly condemned the strike, describing it as a war crime.
During the funeral, mourners chanted “Death to America” and “Death to Israel” as the bodies were laid to rest in a temporary graveyard set up in an empty lot due to the ongoing war.
“It’s not the first time our colleagues are killed,” said Mohammad Ali Badreddine, an SNG engineer with al-Mayadeen. “It’s a big loss… they were among the brightest and most professional people and also among the kindest people.”
